Neroli oil is much more citrusy and green, and is used in the top and heart notes of a fragrance. It is often associated with the scent of sun-dried sheets and spiced madeleines.
Lavender: Native to the Mediterranean, lavender was a prized scent since Roman times for its ability to freshen linen, freshen breath, and antiseptic properties. Francis Kurkdjian favors lavender absolute, which is extracted using volatile solvents.
