Goldfield & Banks Island Lush smells of an old coat pocket that once held some grated nutmeg. Despite the name, it's a spicy, woody leather scent.
How it smells
Ginger and pink pepper prickle first, trampling the Italian bergamot. Then tarry Paraguayan guaiac wood and Egyptian geranium dry it out, and the opening tartness subsides. Texas cedar and iris add the powder of a freshly sharpened pencil. Leather runs through it all, soft and a little worn. Finally Siam benzoin settles on the skin with a vanilla-like sweetness, while Haitian vetiver and patchouli bring the dampness of forest floor beneath it.
It's at its best under a wool scarf on a rainy autumn day, when the warming fabric brings out the wood.
