Francois Demachy, Dior perfume creator, envisioned a radical fresh composition dictated by a name with a manifesto. He wanted it to be raw and noble at the same time, and to achieve this he relied heavily on natural ingredients selected with extreme care and used in excessive doses.

Sauvage opens with a bright, fresh burst of Reggio di Calabria Bergamot. Ambroxan, derived from ambergris, provides a deep, woody base note. The overall impression brings to mind a vast, open landscape bathed in bright sunlight.
